15:1

Hassanor Alapa : Alif, Lām, Rā’, 603 Gioto so manga tanda o Kitāb ago Qur’ān a mapayag

Muhsin Khan : Alif-Lam-Ra. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. These are the Verses of the Book, and a plain Quran.

Sahih International : Alif, Lam, Ra. These are the verses of the Book and a clear Qur'an.

Pickthall : Alif. Lam. Ra. These are verses of the Scripture and a plain Reading.

Yusuf Ali : A. L. R. These are the Ayats of Revelation,- of a Qur'an that makes things clear.

Shakir : Alif Lam Ra. These are the verses of the Book and (of) a Quran that makes (things) clear.

Dr. Ghali : Alif, Lam, Mim, Ra (These are the names of letters of the Arabic alphabet, and only Allah knows their meaning here). Those are the ayat (Verses, signs) of the Book and an Evident Qur'an.

Tafsir Jalalayn : Alif lām rā’: God knows best what He means by these [letters]. Those — these verses — are the verses of the Book, the Qur’ān (āyātu’l-kitābi: this annexation functions in the sense of min, ‘from’) and of a manifest Qur’ān, one that makes evident what is truth and what is falsehood (wa-qur’ānin mubīnin is [made up of] a supplement with an added adjectival qualification).

Hassanor Alapa : Mapzimalaw dn o siran oto a manga kafir a oba siran bo mimbaloy a manga Muslim 604

Muhsin Khan : Perhaps (often) will those who disbelieve wish that they were Muslims [those who have submitted themselves to Allah's Will in Islam Islamic Monotheism, this will be on the Day of Resurrection when they will see the disbelievers going to Hell and the Muslims going to Paradise].

Sahih International : Perhaps those who disbelieve will wish that they had been Muslims.

Pickthall : It may be that those who disbelieve wish ardently that they were Muslims.

Yusuf Ali : Again and again will those who disbelieve, wish that they had bowed (to Allah's will) in Islam.

Shakir : Often will those who disbelieve wish that they had been Muslims.

Dr. Ghali : (Probably) the ones who have disbelieved would often rather like that if they were Muslims.

Tafsir Jalalayn : It may be that (read rubbamā or rubamā) those who disbelieve, on the Day of Resurrection, when they witness their predicament and that of the Muslims, will wish that they had been muslims (rubba here is used to indicate ‘many’, since many of them will wish this; but it is also said to indicate ‘few’, since they will be so stupefied by the terrors that they will not come out of their stupor to wish such a thing, except on a few occasions:

15:3

Hassanor Alapa : Bagakn ka siran a pkhan siran a gii siran zagola ago ttmbangn siran o pangindaw, ka katokawan iran bo

Muhsin Khan : Leave them to eat and enjoy, and let them be preoccupied with (false) hope. They will come to know!

Sahih International : Let them eat and enjoy themselves and be diverted by [false] hope, for they are going to know.

Pickthall : Let them eat and enjoy life, and let (false) hope beguile them. They will come to know!

Yusuf Ali : Leave them alone, to enjoy (the good things of this life) and to please themselves: let (false) hope amuse them: soon will knowledge (undeceive them).

Shakir : Leave them that they may eat and enjoy themselves and (that) hope may beguile them, for they will soon know.

Dr. Ghali : Leave them out to eat and enjoy (life), and let (false) aspiration divert them; then eventually they will know.

Tafsir Jalalayn : Leave them, the disbelievers, O Muhammad (s), to eat and to enjoy, this world of theirs, and that they be diverted, distracted, by hope, of a long life and other [such] matters, [that keep them] away from faith, for they will come to know, the sequel of their affair — this was [revealed] before the command to fight [them].

15:4

Hassanor Alapa : Go da a bininasa Mi a lipongan Inonta a adn a taalik iyan a katotokawan (a mappnto)

Muhsin Khan : And never did We destroy a township but there was a known decree for it.

Sahih International : And We did not destroy any city but that for it was a known decree.

Pickthall : And We destroyed no township but there was a known decree for it.

Yusuf Ali : Never did We destroy a population that had not a term decreed and assigned beforehand.

Shakir : And never did We destroy a town but it had a term made known.

Dr. Ghali : And in no way did We cause any town to perish except that it had a known (prescribed) Book.

Tafsir Jalalayn : And We did not destroy any town (min qaryatin: min is extra), meaning, its inhabitants, but that it had a known decree, a [pre-]determined term, after which it would be destroyed.

15:5

Hassanor Alapa : Di khaonaan a isa a pagtaw so taalik iyan ago di ran maphakaori

Muhsin Khan : No nation can anticipate its term, nor delay it.

Sahih International : No nation will precede its term, nor will they remain thereafter.

Pickthall : No nation can outstrip its term nor can they lag behind.

Yusuf Ali : Neither can a people anticipate its term, nor delay it.

Shakir : No people can hasten on their doom nor can they postpone (it).

Dr. Ghali : In no way can any nation outstrip its term, and in no way will they (be able) to postpone it.

Tafsir Jalalayn : No community (min ummatin: min is extra) can outstrip its [predetermined] term nor can they [seek to] delay it, [nor can they] put it off.

15:6

Hassanor Alapa : Go pitharo iran a hay so initoron on so Qur’ān (so Mohammad) mataan a ska na pmbthangn

Muhsin Khan : And they say: "O you (Muhammad SAW ) to whom the Dhikr (the Quran) has been sent down! Verily, you are a mad man.

Sahih International : And they say,"O you upon whom the message has been sent down, indeed you are mad.

Pickthall : And they say: O thou unto whom the Reminder is revealed, lo! thou art indeed a madman!

Yusuf Ali : They say: "O thou to whom the Message is being revealed! truly thou art mad (or possessed)!

Shakir : And they say: O you to whom the Reminder has been revealed! you are most surely insane:

Dr. Ghali : And they said, "O you upon whom the Remembrance is being sent down, surely you are indeed a madman.

Tafsir Jalalayn : And they, that is, the disbelievers of Mecca, say, to the Prophet (s): ‘O you, to whom the Remembrance, the Qur’ān — as you claim — has been revealed, lo! you are indeed possessed!

Muhsin Khan : "Why do you not bring angels to us if you are of the truthful ones?"

Sahih International : Why do you not bring us the angels, if you should be among the truthful?"

Pickthall : Why bringest thou not angels unto us, if thou art of the truthful?

Yusuf Ali : "Why bringest thou not angels to us if it be that thou hast the Truth?"

Shakir : Why do you not bring to us the angels if you are of the truthful ones?

Dr. Ghali : Would you ever come up with the Angels to us, in case you are of the sincere?"

Tafsir Jalalayn : Why do you not bring us the angels, if you are of the truthful?’, in saying that you are a prophet and that this Qur’ān is from God.

15:8

Hassanor Alapa : Go di ami phakatoronn so malāikat a rowar sa bnar, go di siran dn khalanatan ko siksa (amay ka makatoron Kami sa malāikat a sogo’).

Muhsin Khan : We send not the angels down except with the truth (i.e. for torment, etc.), and in that case, they (the disbelievers) would have no respite!

Sahih International : We do not send down the angels except with truth; and the disbelievers would not then be reprieved.

Pickthall : We send not down the angels save with the Fact, and in that case (the disbelievers) would not be tolerated.

Yusuf Ali : We send not the angels down except for just cause: if they came (to the ungodly), behold! no respite would they have!

Shakir : We do not send the angels but with truth, and then they would not be respited.

Dr. Ghali : In no way do We send down the Angels except with the Truth; and lo, in no way would they (The disbelievers) be respited.

Tafsir Jalalayn : God, exalted be He, says: The angels do not descend (tanazzalu: one of the two tā’ letters [of tatanazzalu] has been omitted) save with the truth, with the chastisement; and then, that is, upon the descent of the angels with the chastisement, they [the disbelievers] would not be reprieved, [would not] be granted respite.

15:9

Hassanor Alapa : Mataan a initoron Ami so Qur’ān ago mataan a Skami i somisiap on 606

Muhsin Khan : Verily We: It is We Who have sent down the Dhikr (i.e. the Quran) and surely, We will guard it (from corruption).

Sahih International : Indeed, it is We who sent down the Qur'an and indeed, We will be its guardian.

Pickthall : Lo! We, even We, reveal the Reminder, and lo! We verily are its Guardian.

Yusuf Ali : We have, without doubt, sent down the Message; and We will assuredly guard it (from corruption).

Shakir : Surely We have revealed the Reminder and We will most surely be its guardian.

Dr. Ghali : Surely We, Ever We, have been sending down the Remembrance, and surely We are indeed Preservers of it.

Tafsir Jalalayn : Verily it is We (nahnu emphasises the subject of inna, or [functions as] a separating pronoun) Who have revealed the Remembrance, the Qur’ān, and assuredly We will preserve it, against substitution, distortion, additions and omissions.

15:10

Hassanor Alapa : Go sabnar a somiogo Kami ko miaonaan ka sii ko manga lompokan o miangaoona 2015

Muhsin Khan : Indeed, We sent Messengers before you (O Muhammad SAW) amongst the sects (communities) of old.

Sahih International : And We had certainly sent [messengers] before you, [O Muhammad], among the sects of the former peoples.

Pickthall : We verily sent (messengers) before thee among the factions of the men of old.

Yusuf Ali : We did send messengers before thee amongst the religious sects of old:

Shakir : And certainly We sent (messengers) before you among the nations of yore.

Dr. Ghali : And indeed We sent (Messengers) even before you among the sects of the earliest (people).

Tafsir Jalalayn : And verily We sent before you, messengers, to former factions, sects.

15:11

Hassanor Alapa : Na daa makaoma kiran a pd sa sogo’ inonta a maadn siran on a giimagizawizaw

Muhsin Khan : And never came a Messenger to them but they did mock him.

Sahih International : And no messenger would come to them except that they ridiculed him.

Pickthall : And never came there unto them a messenger but they did mock him.

Yusuf Ali : But never came a messenger to them but they mocked him.

Shakir : And there never came a messenger to them but they mocked him.

Dr. Ghali : And in no way did a Messenger come up to them except that they used to mock at him.

Tafsir Jalalayn : And never did a messenger come to them but that they mocked him, in the same way that your people have mocked you — this is meant to comfort the Prophet (s).

15:12

Hassanor Alapa : Datar oto a paka-pnggolalann Ami ko manga poso’o manga baradosa (so kapanakoto)

Muhsin Khan : Thus do We let it (polytheism and disbelief) enter into the hearts of the Mujrimun [criminals, polytheists, pagans, etc. (because of their mockery at the Messengers)].

Sahih International : Thus do We insert denial into the hearts of the criminals.

Pickthall : Thus do We make it traverse the hearts of the guilty:

Yusuf Ali : Even so do we let it creep into the hearts of the sinners -

Shakir : Thus do We make it to enter into the hearts of the guilty;

Dr. Ghali : Thus We insert it (Disbelief) into the hearts of the criminals.

Tafsir Jalalayn : Thus We cause it to find its way, in other words, in the same way that We have caused denial to enter the hearts of those [individuals], We cause it to enter, into the hearts of the sinners, that is, the disbelievers of Mecca.

15:13

Hassanor Alapa : A di ran pharatiayaan, go sabnar a miaipos dn so lalan o miangaoona

Muhsin Khan : They would not believe in it (the Quran), and already the example of (Allah's punishment of) the ancients (who disbelieved) has gone forth.

Sahih International : They will not believe in it, while there has already occurred the precedent of the former peoples.

Pickthall : They believe not therein, though the example of the men of old hath gone before.

Yusuf Ali : That they should not believe in the (Message); but the ways of the ancients have passed away.

Shakir : They do not believe in it, and indeed the example of the former people has already passed.

Dr. Ghali : They do not believe in it; (The Message) and the enactment (The reward for good and evil) (for) the earliest (people) has already passed away.

Tafsir Jalalayn : They do not believe in him, in the Prophet (s), even though the example of the men of old has already gone before, that is, the way of God [in dealing] with them [those of old], by chastising them for denying [the truthfulness of] their prophets: those [Meccans] are like these former.

Muhsin Khan : And even if We opened to them a gate from the heaven and they were to continue ascending thereto,

Sahih International : And [even] if We opened to them a gate from the heaven and they continued therein to ascend,

Pickthall : And even if We opened unto them a gate of heaven and they kept mounting through it,

Yusuf Ali : Even if We opened out to them a gate from heaven, and they were to continue (all day) ascending therein,

Shakir : And even if We open to them a gateway of heaven, so that they ascend into it all the while,

Dr. Ghali : And (even) if We opened upon them a gate of the heaven (and) so they linger on winding up through it,

Tafsir Jalalayn : And even if We were to open for them a gate from the heaven, and they were to continue ascending through it, the gate,

Muhsin Khan : They would surely say: "Our eyes have been (as if) dazzled. Nay, we are a people bewitched."

Sahih International : They would say, "Our eyes have only been dazzled. Rather, we are a people affected by magic."

Pickthall : They would say: Our sight is wrong - nay, but we are folk bewitched.

Yusuf Ali : They would only say: "Our eyes have been intoxicated: Nay, we have been bewitched by sorcery."

Shakir : They would certainly say: Only our eyes have been covered over, rather we are an enchanted people.

Dr. Ghali : They would indeed say, "Surely it is only that our be holdings (i.e., eyesights) are stupefied; no indeed, we are a people bewitched!"

Tafsir Jalalayn : they would say, ‘It is merely that our eyes have been dazzled, they have been shut. Nay, we are a folk bewitched!’, imagining this.

15:16

Muhsin Khan : And indeed, We have put the big stars in the heaven and We beautified it for the beholders.

Sahih International : And We have placed within the heaven great stars and have beautified it for the observers.

Pickthall : And verily in the heaven we have set mansions of the stars, and We have beautified it for beholders.

Yusuf Ali : It is We Who have set out the zodiacal signs in the heavens, and made them fair-seeming to (all) beholders;

Shakir : And certainly We have made strongholds in the heaven and We have made it fair seeming to the beholders.

Dr. Ghali : And indeed We have already made in the heaven constellations, and We have adorned it to the onlookers.

Tafsir Jalalayn : And verily We have placed in the heaven constellations, twelve [of them]: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo (al-sunbula), Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces, which are the mansions of the seven orbiting planets: Mars rules Aries and Scorpio, Venus: Taurus and Libra, Mercury: Gemini and Virgo, the Moon: Cancer, the Sun: Leo, Jupiter: Sagittarius and Pisces, and Saturn: Capricorn and Aquarius; and We have adorned it, with [these] planets, for beholders;

15:17

Hassanor Alapa : Go siniyap Ami skaniyan ko shaytan a raradiamn.

Shakir : But he who steals a hearing, so there follows him a visible flame.

Dr. Ghali : Excepting him who (gains) hearing by stealth, (and) so an evidently flaming (meteor) follows him up.

Tafsir Jalalayn : except the one who listens by stealth — he is pursued by a clear flame, a shining meteor that burns him, or pierces him or drives him insane.

Shakir : And the earth-- We have spread it forth and made in it firm mountains and caused to grow in it of every suitable thing.

Dr. Ghali : And the earth-We have extended it and cast on it anchorages, (i.e., mountains) and We have caused to grow therein of everything (evenly) weighed.

Tafsir Jalalayn : And the earth We have stretched it out, spread it flat, and cast therein firm mountains, lest it should sway beneath its inhabitants, and caused to grow therein every kind of balanced thing, [every kind of thing] known and determined.

Pickthall : And we have given unto you livelihoods therein, and unto those for whom ye provide not.

Yusuf Ali : And We have provided therein means of subsistence,- for you and for those for whose sustenance ye are not responsible.

15:73

Hassanor Alapa : Na sininggawt siran o matanog a sowara ko masa a kiapakasold iran ko kazbang o alongan

Muhsin Khan : So As-Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.) overtook them at the time of sunrise;

Sahih International : So the shriek seized them at sunrise.

Pickthall : Then the (Awful) Cry overtook them at the sunrise.

Yusuf Ali : But the (mighty) Blast overtook them before morning,

Shakir : So the rumbling overtook them (while) entering upon the time of sunrise;

Dr. Ghali : Then the Shout took them (away) at sunshine.

Tafsir Jalalayn : Then the Cry, the Cry of Gabriel, seized them at sunrise.

15:74

Hassanor Alapa : Na bialoy Ami so liawaw niyan a didalm iyan (biaklid so ingd) ago piakaora-nan Ami siran sa manga ator a kokombaan sa apoy

Muhsin Khan : And We turned (the towns of Sodom in Palestine) upside down and rained down on them stones of baked clay.

Sahih International : And We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of hard clay.

Pickthall : And We utterly confounded them, and We rained upon them stones of heated clay.

Yusuf Ali : And We turned (the cities) upside down, and rained down on them brimstones hard as baked clay.

Shakir : Thus did We turn it upside down, and rained down upon them stones of what had been decreed.

Dr. Ghali : So We turned it upside-down, and We rained upon them stones of baked clay.

Tafsir Jalalayn : And We made their, that is, their cities’, topmost part their nethermost, by Gabriel’s raising them [the cities] to the heaven and dropping them face down onto the earth, and We rained on them stones of baked clay, clay baked in fire.

15:75

Hassanor Alapa : Mataan a kadadalman oto sa manga tanda a rk a manga taw a giimamimi-kiran

Muhsin Khan : Surely! In this are signs, for those who see (or understand or learn the lessons from the Signs of Allah).

Sahih International : Indeed in that are signs for those who discern.

Pickthall : Lo! therein verily are portents for those who read the signs.

Yusuf Ali : Behold! in this are Signs for those who by tokens do understand.

Shakir : Surely in this are signs for those who examine.

Dr. Ghali : Surely in that are indeed signs for the scrutinizers (i.e., Those who look for the destroyed cities).

Tafsir Jalalayn : Indeed in that, which is mentioned, there are signs, indications of God’s Oneness, for those who take note, [those who] observe and take heed.

Muhsin Khan : And verily! They (the cities) were right on the highroad (from Makkah to Syria i.e. the place where the Dead Sea is now).

Sahih International : And indeed, those cities are [situated] on an established road.

Pickthall : And lo! it is upon a road still uneffaced.

Yusuf Ali : And the (cities were) right on the high-road.

Shakir : And surely it is on a road that still abides.

Dr. Ghali : And surely it is indeed on a way that still exists.

Tafsir Jalalayn : And indeed they, that is, the cities of the people of Lot, are on a road that [still] remains, Quraysh’s route to Syria, [one] not yet effaced: so why do they not take heed from their example?

15:77

Hassanor Alapa : Mataan a kadadalman oto sa tanda a rk o miamaratiaya

Muhsin Khan : Surely! Therein is indeed a sign for the believers.

Sahih International : Indeed in that is a sign for the believers.

Pickthall : Lo! therein is indeed a portent for believers.

Yusuf Ali : Behold! in this is a sign for those who believed.

Shakir : Most surely there is a sign in this for the believers.

Dr. Ghali : Surely in that is indeed a sign for the believers.

Tafsir Jalalayn : There is indeed a sign, a lesson, in that for believers.

15:78

Hassanor Alapa : Amay ka miaadn so manga taw ko kakayowan a ingd 621 a manga salimbot a pananakoto.

Muhsin Khan : And the dwellers in the wood [i.e. the people of Madyan (Midian) to whom Prophet Shu'aib was sent by Allah), were also Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.).

Sahih International : And the companions of the thicket were [also] wrongdoers.

Pickthall : And the dwellers in the wood indeed were evil-doers.

Yusuf Ali : And the Companions of the Wood were also wrong-doers;

Shakir : And the dwellers of the thicket also were most surely unjust.

Dr. Ghali : And decidedly the companions of the Thicket (i.e., the dwellers of Madyan) were indeed unjust.

Tafsir Jalalayn : And certainly (in has been softened, in other words [understand it as being] innahu) the dwellers in the wood, a huddle of trees near Midian — these were the people of [the prophet] Shu‘ayb — were evildoers, for denying Shu‘ayb.

15:79

Hassanor Alapa : Na siaopan Ami siran na siran a dowa (so pagtaw o Lūt ago so pagtaw o Shuayb ) na padoman a mapayag (pzagadan iran ko gii ran kandalakaw)

Muhsin Khan : So, We took vengeance on them. They are both on an open highway, plain to see.

Sahih International : So We took retribution from them, and indeed, both [cities] are on a clear highway.

Pickthall : So we took vengeance on them; and lo! they both are on a high-road plain to see.

Yusuf Ali : So We exacted retribution from them. They were both on an open highway, plain to see.

Shakir : So We inflicted retribution on them, and they are both, indeed, on an open road (still) pursued.

Dr. Ghali : So We took vengeance on them; and surely the two of them were indeed on an evident record (or: register, literally:Imam).

Tafsir Jalalayn : So We exacted retribution from them, by destroying them through extreme heat. And certainly both of them, that is, the cities of the people of Lot and those of [the dwellers in] the wood, are upon a open road, plain [to see]: so will you not take heed from their example, O people of Mecca?

15:80

Hassanor Alapa : Go sabnar a piakambokhag o manga taw ko al Hijr 622 so manga sogo’

Muhsin Khan : And verily, the dwellers of Al-Hijr (the rocky tract) denied the Messengers.

Sahih International : And certainly did the companions of Thamud deny the messengers.

Pickthall : And the dwellers in Al-Hijr denied (Our) messengers.

Yusuf Ali : The Companions of the Rocky Tract also rejected the messengers:

Shakir : And the dwellers of the Rock certainly rejected the messengers;

Dr. Ghali : And indeed the companions (i.e., the inhabitants) of Al- Hijr readily cried lies to the Emissaries.

Tafsir Jalalayn : And verily the dwellers in al-Hijr — a valley between Medina and Syria — namely, [the tribe of] Thamūd, denied those who had been sent [by God], when they denied [the prophet] Sālih, as this constituted a denial of the other messengers, since they all shared the fact that they came with [the Message proclaiming] the Oneness of God.

15:81

Hassanor Alapa : Sa inibgay Ami kiran so manga tanda Ami na miaadn siran on a tatalikhodan iran

Muhsin Khan : And We gave them Our Signs, but they were averse to them.

Sahih International : And We gave them Our signs, but from them they were turning away.

Pickthall : And we gave them Our revelations, but they were averse to them.

Yusuf Ali : We sent them Our Signs, but they persisted in turning away from them.

Shakir : And We gave them Our communications, but they turned aside from them;

Dr. Ghali : And We brought them Our signs, yet they were veering away from them.

Tafsir Jalalayn : And We brought them Our signs, by way of the she-camel [of Sālih], but they were averse [to them], refusing to reflect on them.

15:82

Hassanor Alapa : Go miaadn siran a pnggaangan iran so manga palaw sa manga walay ran a somasarig siran

Muhsin Khan : And they used to hew out dwellings from the mountains (feeling themselves) secure.

Sahih International : And they used to carve from the mountains, houses, feeling secure.

Pickthall : And they used to hew out dwellings from the hills, (wherein they dwelt) secure.

Yusuf Ali : Out of the mountains did they hew (their) edifices, (feeling themselves) secure.

Shakir : And they hewed houses in the mountains in security.

Dr. Ghali : And they used to hew the mountains into homes, (therein dwelling) securely.

Tafsir Jalalayn : And they used to hew out dwellings from the mountains, feeling secure.

15:83

Muhsin Khan : But As-Saihah (torment - awful cry etc.) overtook them in the early morning (of the fourth day of their promised punishment days).

Sahih International : But the shriek seized them at early morning.

Pickthall : But the (Awful) Cry overtook them at the morning hour,

Yusuf Ali : But the (mighty) Blast seized them of a morning,

Shakir : So the rumbling overtook them in the morning;

Dr. Ghali : So the Shout took them (away) in the (early) morning.

Tafsir Jalalayn : But the Cry seized them in the morning.

15:84

Hassanor Alapa : Na da kiran makanggay a gona so nganin a phizokat iran

Muhsin Khan : And all that which they used to earn availed them not.

Sahih International : So nothing availed them [from] what they used to earn.

Pickthall : And that which they were wont to count as gain availed them not.

Yusuf Ali : And of no avail to them was all that they did (with such art and care)!

Shakir : And what they earned did not avail them.

Dr. Ghali : Then in no way did whatever they used to earn avail them.

Tafsir Jalalayn : And so that which they used to count as gain, in the way of building fortresses and amassing riches, did not avail, [did not] protect, them, from the chastisement.

Muhsin Khan : And We created not the heavens and the earth and all that is between them except with truth, and the Hour is surely coming, so overlook (O Muhammad SAW), their faults with gracious forgiveness. [This was before the ordainment of Jihad holy fighting in Allah's Cause].

Sahih International : And We have not created the heavens and earth and that between them except in truth. And indeed, the Hour is coming; so forgive with gracious forgiveness.

Pickthall : We created not the heavens and the earth and all that is between them save with truth, and lo! the Hour is surely coming. So forgive, (O Muhammad), with a gracious forgiveness.

Yusuf Ali : We created not the heavens, the earth, and all between them, but for just ends. And the Hour is surely coming (when this will be manifest). So overlook (any human faults) with gracious forgiveness.

Shakir : And We did not create the heavens and the earth and what is between them two but in truth; and the hour is most surely coming, so turn away with kindly forgiveness.

Dr. Ghali : And in no way did We create the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them except with the Truth; and surely the Hour is indeed coming up, so pardon, with becoming pardoning.

Tafsir Jalalayn : We did not create the heavens and the earth and all that is between them save with the Truth. And truly the Hour shall come, without doubt, whereupon every person will be requited according to his deeds. So be forgiving, O Muhammad (s), to your people, with gracious forgiveness: turn away from them without [any feeling of] anxiety — this was abrogated by the ‘sword’ verse [Q. 9:5].

15:86

Hassanor Alapa : Mataan a so Kadnan ka na Skaniyan so Pangangadn a Matao

Muhsin Khan : Verily, your Lord is the All-Knowing Creator.

Sahih International : Indeed, your Lord - He is the Knowing Creator.

Pickthall : Lo! Thy Lord! He is the All-Wise Creator.

Yusuf Ali : For verily it is thy Lord who is the Master-Creator, knowing all things.

Shakir : Surely your Lord is the Creator of all things, the Knowing.

Dr. Ghali : Surely your Lord, He is The Sublime Creator, The Ever-Knowing.

Tafsir Jalalayn : Truly your Lord, He is the Creator, of everything, the Knowing, of everything.

Sahih International : And We have certainly given you, [O Muhammad], seven of the often repeated [verses] and the great Qur'an.

Pickthall : We have given thee seven of the oft-repeated (verses) and the great Qur'an.

Yusuf Ali : And We have bestowed upon thee the Seven Oft-repeated (verses) and the Grand Qur'an.

Shakir : And certainly We have given you seven of the oft-repeated (verses) and the grand Quran.

Dr. Ghali : And indeed We have already brought you seven of the oft-repeated (i.e., the Opening Surah " Al-Fatihah", as it includes praise and laudation in seven verses) and the magnificent Qur'an.

Tafsir Jalalayn : And verily We have given you seven of the oft-repeated [verses] — the Prophet (s) said that this meant [sūrat] al-Fātiha, as reported by the two Shaykhs [Bukhārī and Muslim], since it is repeated in every unit of prayer (rak‘a) — and the great Qur’ān.

Muhsin Khan : Look not with your eyes ambitiously at what We have bestowed on certain classes of them (the disbelievers), nor grieve over them. And lower your wings for the believers (be courteous to the fellow-believers).

Sahih International : Do not extend your eyes toward that by which We have given enjoyment to [certain] categories of the disbelievers, and do not grieve over them. And lower your wing to the believers

Pickthall : Strain not thine eyes toward that which We cause some wedded pairs among them to enjoin, and be not grieved on their account, and lower thy wing (in tenderness) for the believers.

Yusuf Ali : Strain not thine eyes. (Wistfully) at what We have bestowed on certain classes of them, nor grieve over them: but lower thy wing (in gentleness) to the believers.

Shakir : Do not strain your eyes after what We have given certain classes of them to enjoy, and do not grieve for them, and make yourself gentle to the believers.

Dr. Ghali : Do not definitely extend forth your eyes to what We have given pairs of them to enjoy; and be not grieved for them, and lower your wing to the believers.

Tafsir Jalalayn : Do not extend your glance toward that which We have given different groups of them to enjoy, and do not grieve for them, should they not believe, and lower your wing, temper your nature, for the believers.

Pickthall : And say: Lo! I, even I, am a plain warner,

Yusuf Ali : And say: "I am indeed he that warneth openly and without ambiguity,"-

Shakir : And say: Surely I am the plain warner.

Dr. Ghali : And say, "Surely, I, constantly I, am the evident warner."

Tafsir Jalalayn : And say: ‘Indeed, I am the warner, of God’s chastisement, lest it be sent down on you, the clear [warner], clear in [his] warning.

Pickthall : Such as We send down for those who make division,

Yusuf Ali : (Of just such wrath) as We sent down on those who divided (Scripture into arbitrary parts),-

Shakir : Like as We sent down on the dividers

Dr. Ghali : Just as We sent down upon those who divide among themselves, (i.e., draw lots or divide by means of headless arrows).

Tafsir Jalalayn : Even as We sent down, chastisement, on those who make division, the Jews and the Christians,

Sahih International : Who have made the Qur'an into portions.

Pickthall : Those who break the Qur'an into parts.

Yusuf Ali : (So also on such) as have made Qur'an into shreds (as they please).

Shakir : Those who made the Quran into shreds.

Dr. Ghali : Who have made the Qur'an into fragments.

Tafsir Jalalayn : those who have reduced the Recitation, namely, those scriptures revealed to them, to parts, believing in some and disbelieving in others. It is [alternatively] said that the individuals meant here were those who ‘divided up’ among themselves the roads to Mecca, barring people from Islam. Some of them said that the Qur’ān was sorcery, some that it was soothsaying, and others that it was poetry.

Muhsin Khan : So, by your Lord (O Muhammad SAW), We shall certainly call all of them to account.

Sahih International : So by your Lord, We will surely question them all

Pickthall : Them, by thy Lord, We shall question, every one,

Yusuf Ali : Therefore, by the Lord, We will, of a surety, call them to account,

Shakir : So, by your Lord, We would most certainly question them all,

Dr. Ghali : So, by your Lord, indeed We will definitely ask them all together.

Tafsir Jalalayn : By your Lord, We shall question them all — a questioning involving rebuke —

Yusuf Ali : For all their deeds.

Shakir : As to what they did.

Dr. Ghali : Concerning whatever they were doing.

Tafsir Jalalayn : about what they used to do.

Muhsin Khan : Therefore proclaim openly (Allah's Message Islamic Monotheism) that which you are commanded, and turn away from Al-Mushrikun (polytheists, idolaters, and disbelievers, etc. - see V.2:105).

Sahih International : Then declare what you are commanded and turn away from the polytheists.

Pickthall : So proclaim that which thou art commanded, and withdraw from the idolaters.

Yusuf Ali : Therefore expound openly what thou art commanded, and turn away from those who join false gods with Allah.

Shakir : Therefore declare openly what you are bidden and turn aside from the polytheists.

Dr. Ghali : So profess openly what you have been commanded and veer away from the associators (Those who associate others with Allah)-

Tafsir Jalalayn : So proclaim, O Muhammad (s), what you have been commanded, to [proclaim], in other words, declare it openly and carry it out, and turn away from the idolaters — this was [revealed] before the command to struggle [against the idolaters].

Sahih International : Indeed, We are sufficient for you against the mockers

Pickthall : Lo! We defend thee from the scoffers,

Yusuf Ali : For sufficient are We unto thee against those who scoff,-

Shakir : Surely We will suffice you against the scoffers

Dr. Ghali : Surely We suffice you against the mockers-

Tafsir Jalalayn : Indeed We have sufficed you against the mockers, [who mocked] you, by Our having destroyed each one of them through some harm, and these were: al-Walīd b. al-Mughīra, al-‘Āsī b. Wā’il, ‘Udayy b. Qays, al-Aswad b. al-Muttalib and al-Aswad b. ‘Abd Yaghūth,

Sahih International : Who make [equal] with Allah another deity. But they are going to know.

Pickthall : Who set some other god along with Allah. But they will come to know.

Yusuf Ali : Those who adopt, with Allah, another god: but soon will they come to know.

Shakir : Those who set up another god with Allah; so they shall soon know.

Dr. Ghali : Who make up with Allah another god; so they will eventually know.

Tafsir Jalalayn : those [mockers] who set up besides God another god: (this [entire clause] is an adjectival qualification; but it is also said to be the subject, and because there is an implicit conditional meaning [in the above-mentioned clause], the [particle] fā’ has been inserted into the predicate, which is [the following]) soon they will know, the sequel of their affair.

Sahih International : And We already know that your breast is constrained by what they say.

Pickthall : Well know We that thy bosom is oppressed by what they say,

Yusuf Ali : We do indeed know how thy heart is distressed at what they say.

Shakir : And surely We know that your breast straitens at what they say;

Dr. Ghali : And indeed We already know that, for you, your breast straitens by what they say.

Tafsir Jalalayn : And verily (wa-laqad is for confirmation) We know that your breast is [at times] oppressed by what they say, in the way of mockery and denial.
