Muhsin Khan : Thereafter We made him (the offspring of Adam) as a Nutfah (mixed drops of the male and female sexual discharge) (and lodged it) in a safe lodging (womb of the woman). Sahih International : Then We placed him as a sperm-drop in a firm lodging. Pickthall : Then placed him as a drop (of seed) in a safe lodging; Yusuf Ali : Then We placed him as (a drop of) sperm in a place of rest, firmly fixed; Shakir : Then We made him a small seed in a firm resting-place, Dr. Ghali : Thereafter We made him a sperm-drop, in an established residence. Tafsir Jalalayn : Then We made him, namely, man, the progeny of Adam, a drop, a sperm-drop, in a secure lodging, which is the womb. 23:14Hassanor Alapa : Oriyan iyan na inadn Ami so sathak a ig (o mama a 913 misasaog on so orak o babay) a matitiman a middkt ko kilid o kandangan o ina, na inadn Ami ankoto a matitiman a rogo’ a dianka a sakms a rogo’ na inadn Ami ankoto a sakms a rogo’ a tolan na 914 bionkosan Ami ankoto a tolan sa sapo’ oriyan iyan na adnn Ami a kaadn a salakaw (maana a pmbaropa sa bontal a manosiya) sa miasotisoti so Allāh a lbi a mapia ko Pphamangadn Muhsin Khan : Then We made the Nutfah into a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood), then We made the clot into a little lump of flesh, then We made out of that little lump of flesh bones, then We clothed the bones with flesh, and then We brought it forth as another creation. So blessed be Allah, the Best of creators. Sahih International : Then We made the sperm-drop into a clinging clot, and We made the clot into a lump [of flesh], and We made [from] the lump, bones, and We covered the bones with flesh; then We developed him into another creation. So blessed is Allah , the best of creators. Pickthall : Then fashioned We the drop a clot, then fashioned We the clot a little lump, then fashioned We the little lump bones, then clothed the bones with flesh, and then produced it as another creation. So blessed be Allah, the Best of creators! Yusuf Ali : Then We made the sperm into a clot of congealed blood; then of that clot We made a (foetus) lump; then we made out of that lump bones and clothed the bones with flesh; then we developed out of it another creature. So blessed be Allah, the best to create! Shakir : Then We made the seed a clot, then We made the clot a lump of flesh, then We made (in) the lump of flesh bones, then We clothed the bones with flesh, then We caused it to grow into another creation, so blessed be Allah, the best of the creators. Dr. Ghali : Thereafter We created the sperm-drop into a clot, (Or: embryo) then We created the clot into a chewed up morsel, then We created the chewed up morsel into bones, then We dressed the bones (in) flesh; thereafter We brought him into being as another creation. So Supremely Blessed be Allah, The Fairest of creators. Tafsir Jalalayn : Then We transformed the drop [of semen] into a clot, congealed blood. Then We transformed the clot into a [little] lump of flesh (mudgha), a piece of flesh, about the size of what one would be able to chew (mā yumdagh). Then We transformed the lump of flesh into bones. Then We clothed the bones with flesh (a variant reading in both instances [instead of the plurals ‘izāman and al-‘izāma, ‘the bones’] is [singular] ‘azman [and ‘al-‘azma], ‘the bone’; and in all three instances above khalaqnā, means ‘We made it become’ [as opposed to ‘We created’]). Then We produced him as [yet] another creature, by breathing into him [Our] Spirit. So blessed be God, the best of creators!, that is, [the best of] determiners (the specificier noun for ahsana, ‘the best’, has been omitted because it is obvious: khalqan, ‘in terms of creation’). 23:15Hassanor Alapa : Oriyan iyan na sii ko oriyan oto na skano na phamatay kano Muhsin Khan : After that, surely, you will die. Sahih International : Then indeed, after that you are to die. Pickthall : Then lo! after that ye surely die. Yusuf Ali : After that, at length ye will die Shakir : Then after that you will most surely die. Dr. Ghali : Thereafter surely after that you will indeed die (Literally: be dead) Tafsir Jalalayn : Then indeed after that you die. 23:16Hassanor Alapa : Oriyan iyan na skano ko alongan a Qiyāmah na pagoyagn kano Muhsin Khan : Then (again), surely, you will be resurrected on the Day of Resurrection. Sahih International : Then indeed you, on the Day of Resurrection, will be resurrected. Pickthall : Then lo! on the Day of Resurrection ye are raised (again). Yusuf Ali : Again, on the Day of Judgment, will ye be raised up. Shakir : Then surely on the day of resurrection you shall be raised. Dr. Ghali : Thereafter on the Day of the Resurrection you will surely be made to rise again. Tafsir Jalalayn : Then on the Day of Resurrection you shall surely be raised, for reckoning and requital. 23:17Hassanor Alapa : Go sabnar a miadn Kami ko atag iyo sa pito a manga lalan (odi na pito lapis a langit) ago da Kami maadn ko manga kaadn i ba Kami Makalilipat Muhsin Khan : And indeed We have created above you seven heavens (one over the other), and We are never unaware of the creation. Sahih International : And We have created above you seven layered heavens, and never have We been of [Our] creation unaware. Pickthall : And We have created above you seven paths, and We are never unmindful of creation. Yusuf Ali : And We have made, above you, seven tracts; and We are never unmindful of (our) Creation. Shakir : And certainly We made above you seven heavens; and never are We heedless of creation. Dr. Ghali : And indeed We already created above you seven roads; and in no way have We been heedless of creation. Tafsir Jalalayn : And verily We created above you seven paths, that is, [seven] heavens (tarā’iq is the plural of tarīqa [so called] because they are the paths used by the angels) and of creation, that lies beneath these [paths], We are never unmindful, lest these should fall upon them and destroy them. Nay, but We hold them back, as [stated] in the verse: And He holds back the heaven lest it should fall upon the earth [Q. 22:65]. 23:18Hassanor Alapa : Go miakatoron Kami sa phoon sa kawang sa ig a madidianka na tininkong Ami skaniyan ko lopa, go mataan a Skami ko kaphakadaa on na gaos Ami Muhsin Khan : And We sent down from the sky water (rain) in (due) measure, and We gave it lodging in the earth, and verily, We are Able to take it away. Sahih International : And We have sent down rain from the sky in a measured amount and settled it in the earth. And indeed, We are Able to take it away. Pickthall : And we send down from the sky water in measure, and We give it lodging in the earth, and lo! We are Able to withdraw it. Yusuf Ali : And We send down water from the sky according to (due) measure, and We cause it to soak in the soil; and We certainly are able to drain it off (with ease). Shakir : And We send down water from the cloud according to a measure, then We cause it to settle in the earth, and most surely We are able to carry it away. Dr. Ghali : And We have sent down from the heaven water in a determined estimate, then We made it to dwell in the earth; and surely We are indeed (the) Determiners over putting it away. Tafsir Jalalayn : And We sent down water out of the heaven in measure, that suffices them, and We lodged it within the earth; and We are indeed able to take it away, so that they die of thirst together with their livestock.
23:19Hassanor Alapa : Na miadn Kami sa rk iyo misabap on sa manga asinda a pd sa korma ago manga anggor a adn a rk iyo ron a manga onga a madakl ago pd on so phkhn iyo. Muhsin Khan : Then We brought forth for you therewith gardens of date-palms and grapes, wherein is much fruit for you, and whereof you eat. Sahih International : And We brought forth for you thereby gardens of palm trees and grapevines in which for you are abundant fruits and from which you eat. Pickthall : Then We produce for you therewith gardens of date-palms and grapes, wherein is much fruit for you and whereof ye eat; Yusuf Ali : With it We grow for you gardens of date-palms and vines: in them have ye abundant fruits: and of them ye eat (and have enjoyment),- Shakir : Then We cause to grow thereby gardens of palm trees and grapes for you; you have in them many fruits and from them do you eat; Dr. Ghali : So We have brought into being for you therewith gardens of palms and vineyards; in them you have many fruits for you, and of them you eat. Tafsir Jalalayn : Then We produced for you therewith gardens of date palms and vines — these being the most common fruits of the Arabs — wherein is abundant fruit for you, and whereof you eat, in summer and winter. 23:20Hassanor Alapa : (go miadn Kami) sa kayo a phagtho sa palaw a Sinā’ a iphagtho iyan so lana a (zisii ko onga a zaytūn) ago so pangn’nkn a iphlino ko roti ko kapkhana on (idām) Muhsin Khan : And a tree (olive) that springs forth from Mount Sinai, that grows oil, and (it is a) relish for the eaters. Sahih International : And [We brought forth] a tree issuing from Mount Sinai which produces oil and food for those who eat. Pickthall : And a tree that springeth forth from Mount Sinai that groweth oil and relish for the eaters. Yusuf Ali : Also a tree springing out of Mount Sinai, which produces oil, and relish for those who use it for food. Shakir : And a tree that grows out of Mount Sinai which produces oil and a condiment for those who eat. Dr. Ghali : And a tree that comes out (Literally: goes out) from At-Tûr of SaynaÉ (Mount Sinai) that grows fats (i.e., oil) and seasoning for (the) eaters. Tafsir Jalalayn : And, We produced, a tree that grows on Mount of Sinai (read Sīnā’ or Saynā’, indeclinable as it is a proper noun with the feminine ending denoting a location) that produces (read either as tunbitu from the fourth form [anbata], or as tanbutu from the trilateral form [nabata]) oil (bi’l-duhni: in the case of the former [reading of tunbitu] the bā’ [bi-] here would be extra, whereas in the case of the second [reading of tanbutu], it would be [a preposition needed] for the transitive) — and this [tree] is the olive tree, and seasoning for those who eat (wa-sibghin li’l-ākilīna, a supplement to bi’l-duhni, ‘oil’, [that is to say] it is [like] a dye that colours a morsel dipped in it) — and this [seasoning] is the [olive] oil. 23:21Hassanor Alapa : Go mataan a adn a rk iyo a matatago ko binatang a (onta, sapi, kambing) a thoma, pphaka-inomn Ami skano ko pd ko madadalm ko manga tiyan iyan (a so gatas) go adn a bagian iyo ron a manga gona a madakl ago pd on so phkhn iyo Muhsin Khan : And Verily! In the cattle there is indeed a lesson for you. We give you to drink (milk) of that which is in their bellies. And there are, in them, numerous (other) benefits for you, and of them you eat. Sahih International : And indeed, for you in livestock is a lesson. We give you drink from that which is in their bellies, and for you in them are numerous benefits, and from them you eat. Pickthall : And lo! in the cattle there is verily a lesson for you. We give you to drink of that which is in their bellies, and many uses have ye in them, and of them do ye eat; Yusuf Ali : And in cattle (too) ye have an instructive example: from within their bodies We produce (milk) for you to drink; there are, in them, (besides), numerous (other) benefits for you; and of their (meat) ye eat; Shakir : And most surely there is a lesson for you in the cattle: We make you to drink of what is in their bellies, and you have in them many advantages and of them you eat, Dr. Ghali : And surely in the cattle (ÉAncam includes cattle, camels, sheep and goats) there is indeed a lesson for you; We make you to drink of what is in their bellies, and many profits (Or: uses) there are in them for you, and of them you eat. Tafsir Jalalayn : And surely in the cattle, that is, [in] camels, cows and sheep, there is for you a lesson, an admonition for you to heed. We give you to drink (read nasqīkum or nusqīkum) of what is in their bellies, [of] milk, and you have many uses in them, such as [the extraction of] wool, fur and hairs and other [uses], and you eat of them. 23:22Hassanor Alapa : Go sii ko likod iyan ago sii ko liawaw o padaw na phagawidan kano ron Muhsin Khan : And on them, and on ships you are carried. Worship Allah! You have no other Ilah (God) but Him (Islamic Monotheism). Will you not then be afraid (of Him i.e. of His Punishment because of worshipping others besides Him)?" Sahih International : And We had certainly sent Noah to his people, and he said, "O my people, worship Allah ; you have no deity other than Him; then will you not fear Him?" Pickthall : And We verily sent Noah unto his folk, and he said: O my people! Serve Allah. Ye have no other Allah save Him. Will ye not ward off (evil)? Yusuf Ali : (Further, We sent a long line of prophets for your instruction). We sent Noah to his people: He said, "O my people! worship Allah! Ye have no other god but Him. Will ye not fear (Him)?" Shakir : And certainly We sent Nuh to his people, and he said: O my people! serve Allah, you have no god other than Him; will you not then guard (against evil)? No indeed, he has come to them with the Truth, and most of them hate the Truth. (Literally: are haters of the Truth) Tafsir Jalalayn : Or do they say, ‘There is a madness in him’? — this interrogative is meant as an affirmation of the truth of the Prophet’s sincerity, and [of the fact] that messengers did come to past communities, and [of the fact] that they [do indeed] recognise their Messenger to be truthful and trustworthy, and [of the fact] that there is no madness in him. Dr. Ghali : And if the Truth ever followed their prejudices, the heavens and the earth and whoever is therein would indeed have been corrupted. No indeed, We have come up to them with (i.e., brought) their Remembrance, had from their Remembrance they are veering away. Tafsir Jalalayn : And if the truth, namely, the Qur’ān, had followed their desires, and come to them with [mention of] what they fancied in the way of God having a partner and a child, may God be exalted above such [associations], indeed the heavens and the earth and whoever is in them would have been corrupted, they [the heavens and the earth] would have deviated from their observed order, because contradictions would ensue, as is usually the case, when there is more than one ruler. Yusuf Ali : We have sent them the Truth: but they indeed practise falsehood! Shakir : Nay! We have brought to them the truth, and most surely they are liars. Dr. Ghali : No indeed, (but) We have come up to them with (i.e., because) the Truth, and surely they are indeed liars. [If there had been], then each deity would have taken what it created, and some of them would have sought to overcome others. Exalted is Allah above what they describe [concerning Him]. Glorified be Allah above all that they allege. Yusuf Ali : No son did Allah beget, nor is there any god along with Him: (if there were many gods), behold, each god would have taken away what he had created, and some would have lorded it over others! Glory to Allah! (He is free) from the (sort of) things they attribute to Him! Shakir : Never did Allah take to Himself a son, and never was there with him any (other) god-- in that case would each god have certainly taken away what he created, and some of them would certainly have overpowered others; glory be to Allah above what they describe! Dr. Ghali : In no way has Allah taken to Him any child, and in no way has there been with Him any god. Lo, for that each god would indeed have gone away with whatever he created, and some of them would indeed have exalted themselves over others. (Literally: over some (others) All Extolment be to Allah over whatever they describe. Tafsir Jalalayn : God has not taken any son, nor is there any god along with Him; for then, that is, if there were a god along with Him, each god would have taken away what he created, he would have made it exclusively his and prevented the other [god] from having any mastery over it; and some of them would surely rise up against others, in challenge, just as the kings of this world are wont to do.
